enjoying playing pool in sober barI’m sure you’ve heard, but in case you haven’t there is an emerging trend taking place here in the United States and around the globe. What is the trend, you ask? Venues called sober bars and they’re popping up all over the place like crazy.

Sober bars, also commonly referred to as a temperance bar, alcohol-free bar, or dry bar, is a bar that offers its patrons a way to enjoy a bar setting without the temptations of drinking alcohol.

While you may have heard of sober bars, the emerging trend I mentioned above is the big increase in demand for these alcohol-free establishments – especially over the last few years.

Unlike traditional bars that offer alcohol, day or night, in a bar setting with pool tables, dart boards, and all of the things people enjoy in a standard bar setting, sober bars offer the same type of venues and creature comforts, but they are void of the temptations of alcohol. This aspect helps ensure recovering alcoholics, in particular, can have a fun and safe venue to frequent without relapse opportunities.

Here’s a twist. If you think Sober bars are only for recovering addicts, you would be wrong.

Alcohol-Free Bars Are Highly Sought-After

In addition to being a safe place for those in recovery, sober bars are also highly sought-after by people from all walks of life. Sober bar seekers range from people who just don’t like to drink alcohol (or never have), those looking to take a break from alcohol consumption (commonly referred to as sober curious), the healthy lifestyle crowd, and for individuals who want to avoid the typical bar scene with it’s noise and potential for drunken behavior.

Regardless of whether someone is a recovering alcoholic, sober curious, or have always just been alcohol free, sober bars are a fantastic way to have a great time in a bar setting. We are  excited to see many new sober bars popping up as alternatives to traditional ones.
